When you make a cup of tea or coffee only fill the kettle with enough water to make one cup, or two if you are making for two etc.

Keep a note of everything you spend out and about. It really is suprising how those little purchases add up.
Try going through your home to find stuff to sell on, you can raise cash by selling on ebay or in car boot sales in your local area.
This declutters your home and gives you some spare cash.
Ebay is a great resource for toys, books and games and even equipment for your toddler.
Often if you are careful these items can have had little use, and may look new.
Your toddler will not be worried whether their toys have been bought new or not.
Join your local library for your toddler's books, they might enjoy story time too. Download ebooks from the internet for yourself, rather than buying new books which requires the felling of trees.
Use cloth diapers over disposable ones, this not only saves money but is good for the environment too.
Always try to do full loads of laundry and also don't forget to use the cold rinse cycle, which may be enough for most of your laundering needs.
Once washed try to hang your clothes outdoors rather than tumble drying. If you use a fabric softener and remove your laundry from the washing machine straight away,
and hang it up straight away you can reduce your ironing aswell.
Keep a coin jar in which you can pop loose change, it is surprising how this adds up over time.

If you buy DVD's and console games then why not think about joining an internet club instead, this way you rent the games and DVD;s instead of buying them.
We do this and can watch the latest films without purchasing them, you can watch the films when you like and watch them several times if you wish.
If you own 2 cars can you go down to one? Is it possible for you to carpool to work or cycle this will save on car costs which are quite significant.
