Toddler Beds
Toddler Bed

toddler beds

Toddler beds are ideal to use as a transition between cot and a single bed. Many toddlers find this transition quite a difficult time so it certainly pays to purchase a bed that your little one will enjoy sleeping in. Of course some cots can convert to toddler beds quite easily with an additional kit of side panels.

Most toddlers transition to beds between the ages of 18 months and 2 years. Really as soon as your little one becomes agile and is able to climb easily you should look at toddler beds.

Some toddlers may be starting to resist bedtime around this age as well so it makes sense to make their bedroom into a comfortable place that they want to spend time in. Try not to use placing your child in their bedroom as a punishment as it should be a safe haven for them to go to sleep in. We put a stairgate in the doorway of the room so our toddlers could play in their room until they were tired. This meant that we knew they could not wander into other rooms alone or fall down the stairs.

We also found it helpful to use blackout blinds at the window to reduce very early waking. They also helped when it became light later into the evenings during the spring ans summer months.

You could purchase special beds, some are shapes and characters which may appeal to your little one. From Little Tikes beds to Thomas beds there is something for everyone. Don't forget your toddler pillows, and bedding.

Safety Tips

  • Choose a bed that is low to the ground to prevent injury if your child falls out of bed.
  • Bed guards or rails will help initially to prevent your little one rolling out of bed until they are uses to no sides.
  • You could also use pillows on the floor in case your toddler falls out of bed.
  • Place the bed away from radiators or other heat sources.
  • Don't put the bed near windows or doors
  • Make sure your child cannot become trapped between the bed and the wall.
  • Check the screws and bed fixings to make sure the bed remains sturdy.
  • Keep the room dust free especially of your child suffers from allergies.
  • Use window locks or guards at windows in your toddlers room.
. If you are travelling you can get a portable toddler bed, travel bed side rails and even inflatable bed sides. All of these make travelling with toddlers easier, as beds in places away from home can sometimes be a problem for little children. These items will help your child to feel safe and secure.
Grab your toddlers and share some quality time together.
