Toddlers find it very difficult to sit still for long journeys, so put in breaks where your toddler can get out of the car and stretch their legs.

Story tapes are a great way to pass the time. make sure you get really animated ones wuth lots of sounds to keep your toddler interested.

Song tapes are another good way of keeping your toddler entertained. We made our own recording our toddlers favorite sing along songs. They provided many hours of entertainment without breaking the bank.

Try a color game....find something orange, see if you can see something that is red. give a prize of a sticker if you like.

Take along some colorful pipecleaners, these can be twistes into different shapes as you travel along.

Counting games...count the yellow cars....fence posts.....gates etc

Board books are a great activity for the car as well. Take a selection along that you can give to your toddler at intervals.
